Copper River: A Landmark Contemporary Estate

Copper River demonstrates how focused interventions can have an outsized impact on the experience of a home. Rather than a whole-home renovation, the project centered on two custom bar environments, each developed as an extension of the home's architectural language and the homeowners' preference for contemporary design. Custom fluted paneling, waterfall stone detailing, thin-shaker cabinetry, and integrated architectural elements were carefully composed to create spaces that feel refined without becoming overly formal. Throughout the project, design decisions were guided not only by aesthetics but by the realities of the existing structure. The downstairs bar presented a unique challenge, requiring careful coordination around the structural components of an existing staircase. The wall was opened and studied to understand the relationship between the staircase supports and the proposed bar opening, allowing the design to maximize openness while respecting existing conditions. The curved geometry of both the wall and the rear bar opening required extensive technical modeling and highly detailed cabinetry documentation to ensure every transition aligned precisely in the finished installation.

The result is a pair of entertaining spaces that balance craftsmanship, functionality, and architectural clarity, demonstrating Wanderluxe's belief that thoughtful detailing and careful coordination are often what make a space feel effortless.
